GOVERNMENT RESOURCES
There are a number of government agencies that provide free, helpful business advice as well as information related to the NHO 8(a) program and Federal government contracting in general. Please see below for several of these online resources.
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)The mission of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is to help "Americans start, build, and grow businesses." In 1953, the federal agency was created to "aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation."

Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)Throughout the U.S., there are roughly 1,000 Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) that provide small business owners and entrepreneurs with free business consulting and low-cost training. SBDCs are partnered with with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), but are often hosted by colleges, state economic development agencies and private partners.

Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs)Nationwide, there are 94 Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs). Established under the Procurement Technical Assistance Program and administered by the Department of Defense, Defense Logistics Agency, PTACs help businesses compete successfully in the government marketplace.

The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is a complex set of rules that govern how the Federal government buys goods and services. Generally, the FAR governs acquisitions made by executive branch agencies, including the Department of Defense.
